Position Description: Treasurer

  • Estimated Number of Hours of Work Each Week: Approximately 2-3 hours
  • Term*: Two years, elected in even years

Position Objective

This position exists to help support financial well-being and ensure the public trust of HAPPEN financial stewardship by acting as the central coordinator for any donations, spending, and financial savings. Participation and work can be completed virtually; no in-person attendance is required.

Role

  • The Treasurer serves as the liaison and coordinates with the Office of Financial Management (OFM) on any consolidated budget, resources, or other funding administered by OFM for the HAPPEN Business Resource Group (BRG).
  • This individual will work with OFM to accomplish budget and accountability procedures in accordance with OFM guidance and instructions and will also work with the respective agencies/individuals on exploring appropriate grant and funding mechanisms or opportunities.
  • Oversee a small budget.
  • Communicate the financial position of the BRG to the Executive Committee and general membership at regular intervals during the year.
  • Works with leadership and members to prepare an annual report on finances to be presented during the November Meeting.
  • Be on an antiracist journey and model this behavior for membership.
  • Follow established OFM policy and procedure to remain compliant with good finance practices.
  • Serve in the BRG Finance Committee and attend quarterly meetings.
  • Serve in the Executive Committee.

Tools and Resources

The person is expected to coordinate with their agency’s leadership for the flexibility to do this work during their work time. If the person’s state position is overtime eligible, the person will need to create an agreement with their supervisor to ensure this work does not result in unauthorized overtime. The details of that agreement may differ based on agency and specific job duties. The person will be allowed to use their agency computer and other agency resources for this work, as appropriate and as required.
