HAPPEN is proud to announce that Ponleu RakSmey Khmer Artist will be performing for our membership!
Ponleu RakSmey Khmer Artist (Enlightenment Aura Khmer Artist) is a newly formed collective of eight dedicated dancers, supported wholeheartedly by their families and partners. Founded by six passionate artists, the group is committed to preserving and passing on the rich traditions of classical Khmer dance to future generations.
Guided by a mission to uplift and inspire, Ponleu RakSmey Khmer Artist celebrates the beauty, spirit, and cultural depth of Khmer classical and folk dance. Their work is rooted in the resilience and sacrifices of their parents and elders, and they strive to create an inclusive space where people of all backgrounds can learn about and experience these cherished traditions.
This year, the group also offers prayers for peace around the world, including for those affected by ongoing conflicts in Iran and the tensions between Thailand and Cambodia.
For this event, Ponleu RakSmey Khmer Artist will present Robam Tep Apsara, a classical Cambodian royal ballet dating back to the Angkorian era. Each graceful gesture in this revered dance symbolizes love, peace, and prosperity, as performers embody celestial Apsaras believed to bring blessings and good fortune.
