HAPPEN is happy to announce performing for our memberships is Laumua!
Laumua is a proud group of like‑minded community members who have come together to represent the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community in Thurston County. The group officially formed in 2018 after being invited to participate in a high school competition initiated by two API students. In response, community members united to support local youth and help them proudly represent the API community from Lacey.
That competition continues today, encouraging youth who identify with or feel connected to the API experience by focusing on improving educational outcomes while embracing their cultural heritage. Since its founding, Laumua has remained steadfast in its commitment to uplifting youth through shared values, cultural practices, and community support.
This dedication shines through in their teaching and sharing of songs, dance, and cultural traditions with everyone connected to the community.
We’re excited to welcome Laumua to HAPPEN — prepare to be moved, inspired, and energized as they bring the vibrant spirit of the API community to life. Get ready for a performance that will stay with you long after the final note.
